Talent Management
Simon Brittain discusses Kiddy's approach

For us, talent management is a continual business discipline that identifies and deploys above average people to run and build a business; enhances and measures the impact they have; and relies on a set of well-integrated ideas and processes. It is important today because the value of having enough of the right people is high - and the costs of having too  few,  or the wrong, people are even higher.

right people is high - and the costs of
having too  few, or the wrong, people
are even higher

We work with clients to design, develop and implement talent management programmes aimed at identifying and developing the talent pools in any business i.e. high potentials, key talent and core talent.

We help our clients to:

  • Develop their Talent Strategy and answer basic questions such as ‘What is talent?’ and ‘How do we identify potential?’
  • Review  their current talent ‘system’ and improve it, which often means integrating existing but uncoordinated processes into a more effective whole
  • Develop a succession planning process
  • Define a Talent Scorecard with targets and measures for the value, flow, capability and support system for talent
  • Audit the management population and how it needs to change and develop
  • Develop and support the processes for managing critical talent groups: high-potentials and graduates

Developing talent within your business

Once the talent and high potentials are identified we make sure that the potential is raised. We do this in two main ways:

Working with individuals to clarify development objectives, identify tools to close gaps, stakeholder mapping, goal clarification and career coaching. This works particularly well with senior people where we take the role of an `honest broker’.

Working with groups to design and deploy a development programme over a 9,12 or 18 month programme. We work with clients to design a programme using their business and human resource strategies as start points along with any data about the participants (e.g. assessments, 360 degree feedback). We design the structure and define the content and partner with business schools, leaders of industry and recognised experts, as well as leaders within client businesses to educate and develop the participants within these programmes.
