Lloyds TSB Private Banking Hosts Workshop For Businesswomen Successful Female Entrepreneurs And Business Leaders Celebrated At Dedicated Forum. 22% Of Wealth In The Middle East Is Controlled By Women.
Some of the UAE's most successful female entrepreneurs were honoured at a recently held Dubai workshop that explored the role of women in business and leadership today. The seminar, which was organized by Lloyds TSB Private Banking's Dubai branch, discussed a range of issues important for women in senior management and decision making positions, including recognising the right ingredients for success and how to build a winning team.
Among the 30 participants at the special forum were some of the Emirates’ most successful businesswomen; a number of them being selected clients of Lloyds TSB. “We were very keen to sponsor this event, as it is part of Lloyds’ desire to fully understand both the opportunities and the challenges that women face in Dubai’s growing business environment,” says Michelle d’Ancona, EMEA Regional Director and host of the event in conjunction with the Dubai Business Women Council. ”This event has provided the perfect opportunity for leading businesswomen to meet, network and use a dedicated platform to share their experiences of being leaders in their respective fields,” she added.
Speakers at the event included Dr. Ruth Sealy (Cranfield School of Management) and Alison Mackay (Kiddy & Partners) who presented insights into the current local business environment for women and explored innovative leadership techniques. Their addresses provided a backdrop for thought-provoking discussions on the role women play in today’s business environment, with attendees discussing how this was reflected in their own workplaces, country and culture.
Kamel Hothi, Head of Niche Markets, Lloyds TSB Corporate Banking, shared her expertise on how to bring together different communities within the corporate world. She focused on how it was possible to overcome some of the challenges women in business face in the Middle East while still remaining true to their cultural background. The close of the forum saw Pinky Lilani, Chairperson of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, give an insight into the awards she founded and which Lloyds TSB Corporate Banking sponsors.
“We have been present in Dubai for over 30 years - this seminar was a great opportunity to deepen our long-standing relationships, meet some of the new and talented businesswomen operating here in Dubai, and, importantly, to deepen our understanding the different needs of our diverse client base,” said Nigel Putt, who runs the Lloyds TSB Private Banking business in Dubai. “It was a great success and the feedback we received was that there should be more events like this that cater for women. I anticipate that we will be running other similar programs for the region’s leading female figures within the near future,” he added.
