    Kiddy fast-tracked the forming of the bank’s senior teams.

  • Client Needs

    Lloyds Banking Group needed to accelerate the effectiveness of its’ most senior teams in leading the organisation through an unprecedented level of change in an exceptionally challenging business context. Kiddy was hired to help fast track the forming of these senior teams through implementing sound team processes and developing effective team dynamics.

  • Our Approach

    With each team we used a 3-stage process based on Kiddy’s senior team development principles, adapted to work in the Lloyds Banking Group context and cultures.

    Assess

    We assessed the specific business context for the team in question to gain clarity on the strategic and operational and leadership shifts required of the team. We assessed team members and current team functioning – including observing behaviour in action and its’ impact on team performance and dynamics.

    De-brief & Design

    We initially de-briefed the team’s leader on our findings and insights, agreed with them the approach we would take, and designed the detailed team effectiveness programme. We also advised them of the key shifts they would need to make personally to lead their team through change.

    Developing & Driving Outcomes

    Typically we designed around a programme based on two team off-sites, typically run three months weeks apart. The first workshop focused on understanding context, aligning business and team priorities, understanding team dynamics and the agreeing key shifts in individual and team behaviour required. The outcome was a set of team goals and a 90-day action plan that they would work on during this period.

    Between the workshops we provided advice to the team’s leader, as well as checking in with the team to provide observations and feedback on progress. The second workshop reviewed progress made, reinforced the shifts that had taken place, and secured the commitments required to sustain improvement and performance. In many cases, we partnered with Lloyds senior HR professionals to deliver the team effectiveness programme.

Results

Lloyds’ senior teams laid the foundations for high performance, dealt more quickly with the ‘un-discussable’ issues that would block progress, and focused more on the leadership, people and change issues faced. Lloyds’ senior HR professionals often built more in-depth relationships with their line clients as well as gaining experience in using Kiddy’s team effectiveness approach.
